There is, understandably, a lot of hype about essential oils these days. As more and more people discover oils you might be curious enough to want to test them out yourself.
But with the amount of misinformation constantly being tossed around, along with the alarming amount of essential oil brands readily available makes it easy to get lost.
Young Living makes a huge difference to me and is a stand out brand by being clear and precise about what they put in their oils, how they process them, and why they are more authentic compared to all the other brands you might come across. Here are some facts for you, confirmed by a real scientist.
Gerhard Buchbauer is a professor of pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of Vienna in Austria and has researched and written extensively about chemical compounds used in aromatherapy. Buchbauer explained that many essential oils are actually mixtures, sometimes containing over 300 substances, of both simple and complex chemicals including aromatic compounds called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which may be linked to cancer. This is why it is vital to use pure essential oils, like those from Young Living, that are FREE of other substances like PAHs.
Here is where many people are misled. Many essential oil brands, even those found in health
food stores, tout that they are 100% pure – but aren’t actually 100% pure. There are no regulations on essential oils – so you might find an essential oil bottle that assures you that it is pure, while actually only being 5% pure. The majority of these “pure” bottles might contain a plethora of confusing and alarming substances such as chemical extenders, artificial fragrances, fillers etc etc. Long story short; not all essential oils are the same. While many oils might smell good, they also might contain toxic ingredients that can harm your health instead of providing the therapeutic and medical benefits that truly pure essential oils can offer.
But even after knowing this information, it still is difficult to discern which oils are legit due to the misleading claims on the labels. Here is one reason why Young Living is unique. As explained on their website, “Young Living embraces a rigorous quality control standard to help ensure our products meet strict specifications.”
Young Living is proud to advertise their Seed to Seal process, because they are the only company is the world that uses this process to control every aspect of their production, from seed to seal. So, every time you order Young Living products you know exactly what is being delivered to you because YL, unlike many others, are always completely transparent in their process.
Young Living even goes so far as to being owners of all of their farms and distilleries or partners with carefully selected farms that live up to their high standards, and I might sound like a broken record here but seriously this is something that NO other essential oil company in the WORLD does. Anyone anywhere is able to visit their farms around the world to participate in the harvest and distillation process, another opportunity that no other essential oil company offers.
YL very carefully chooses their partners and ingredients, but even still they utilize third-party global experts to validate that their standards are being met. YL oils meet all industry AFNOR and ISO standards and are subjected to isotopic ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) analysis which verifies a particular essential oil is naturally sourced. If you aren’t convinced by all of the scientific processes, studies, and sales pitches here are two additional big benefits of Young Living to further convince you, in a very practical way, why Young Living is the best choice you can make when it comes to oils.
First, Young Living essential oils never expire. While many essential oils contain expiration dates, you can keep YL indefinitely as long as you store them correctly.
Lastly, I have always appreciated is that there are no minimum sales or purchase
requirements for Young Living members, ever. The only thing you have to do is keep your membership active is to place at least $50 in orders per year.
I also would like to add in that I believe in the moral values of YL as a company. They are an extremely charitable company and I am all about giving back. Through the Young Living Foundation, the company and community actually goes on mission trips to communities to help and donate money to improve the lives of impoverished families in Ecuador, Croatia, Uganda and more.
I also love that the president, Jared Turner, committed that Young Living will be zero waste
in 5 years. I always love to support companies that are showing their responsibility to not
only the end users but also our planet and future.
Hope this helps!
